Antique Dorflinger “Renaissance” Red Cut / Clear Decanter $3K

Beautiful decanter sold by eBay seller great_old_finds on October 15th for $3001. This seller has some beautiful antique glass at the time of this posting.

I have sold hundreds of pieces of American Brilliant Cut Glass but rarely do I find a colored piece as beautiful as this. Because colored pieces were not as popular in the 1800's as they became in the early 1900's, there were fewer produced. This amazing antique stoppered decanter weighs a tad over 4-1/2 pounds! It is in excellent condition.... A prized piece! It surely was made by one of the finer cutting houses with very deep and precise cuts and a heavy, clear, thick blank. It measures 8" tall and 6-1/2" across the base. The pattern consists of very deep miter cuts around the center that are intersected with two parallel lines. The stopper has the same cuts with a 6 panel design below. Both the top of the stopper and the base of the jug are covered with starbursts. The spout is perfect and is the culmination of panels formed on the front of the neck. There are absolutely no chips or nicks on the spout. The handle has thumbprints on each side with a flattened top. In the center of each pair of thumbprints is a crosshatched design. I checked it over carefully many times and the only minute fleabite I found was on the edge of one of the miters. To be honest, I looked for it again and couldn't find it. There are no chips or imperfections anywhere on the decanter or stopper (rare).
